The Tauranga North Community Patrol (TNCP) was formed in 2022 - a renamed Bethlehem Community Patrol which was formed in 2015. TNCP is affiliated with the national body, CPNZ (Community Patrols of New Zealand). CPNZ was first formed in 2002 and today it supports over 4000 members spread over 150 affliiated community patrols throughout New Zealand.

The Tauranga North Community Patrol (TNCP) is a small group of people who are all dedicated volunteers of all ages who come from all kinds of working backgrounds - from a host of different trades and industries.

One characteristic we all have in common though, is our keen and genuine desire to be of service to the local community, with particular focus on working with the Police in the prevention of crime.

They give some of their time in helping the Police make the areas of CBD. The Avenues, Matua, Bellevue, Brookfield, CBD, Judea, Otumoetai, Pillans Point, Bethlehem, and Te Puna communities a safer environment in which to live. Any resident who has a sense of responsibility towards the care of their wider neighbourhood may offer their services.

You may have seen the clearly marked TNCP patrol vehicle about your streets - Community Patrollers act as 'eyes and ears' for Police.

The Tauranga Police provide the TNCP with specific "look and listen" tasks each week and these are included in the day and night patrols around neighbourhood streets. Our patrolling has a positive impact on the community whether it be, late at night or at any time, keeping a lookout for stolen vehicles or helping Police with an operation e.g. a search for a missing person.

To maintain a full roster of patrols, the Tauranga North Community Patrol is in need of 'young at heart' new members of any age and gender who can commit to at least one patrol per month in support of their community.

Full training is given and experienced patrollers and Police provide ongoing guidance. We are now looking for more people to join us so if you have a genuine desire to make a difference in the community please be sure to contact us.

If you are community minded and want to assist in making your community safer, please email us at tauranganorth@cpnz.org.nz or send us a message via Facebook.
